Abigail Somma (Abbie) is the author of What the Hummingbirds Taught Me (Global Security Starts in the Nursery), which argues that nervous system development in early childhood - and later support in adulthood - should be treated as global security infrastructure.

She is also a mindfulness trainer and former UN communications professional. For nearly a decade, she has facilitated mindfulness workshops and trainings - for parents, expats and companies - around the world, from Vienna to NYC to London. She supports individuals and organizations to cultivate resilience, purpose, and presence. Abigail is a certified instructor for the Search Inside Yourself program (developed at Google) and holds a certificate in mindfulness meditation instruction from the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science.

In addition, Abigail has spent over 15 years in international policy, including assignments at multiple UN agencies, the World Bank, think tanks and NGOs. She has crafted speeches, op-eds, and campaigns for UN figureheads, business personalities, and non-profits on issues including climate change, gender equality, and global sustainability.

She is also a published poet and a playwright whose work has been staged in multiple theater productions. In 2025, she published her first book of poems, Gratitude for the Grieving. She holds degrees from Johns Hopkins SAIS and Villanova University, and lives in Vienna with her twins.

She believes life is most interesting and exciting at the intersection of the mystical and the ordinary.
